People's Republic of Wall Street!

Not that temporary government partial-ownership necessarily is a bad idea - that might be what it takes to help loosen up commercial paper. (It worked for those commie Swedes in the early 90s.) But the fact that the "Ownership Society" Bush administration is floating this makes me want to scream "socialism!" and rant about "George W. Trotsky" just for kicks.

Man, this settles it once and for all-- I'm just gonna stay poor so I don't gotta worry about all this shit.

The poorer you are, the more you have to worry. Credit crunches (as in the commercial paper squeeze) mean that companies can't get 90-day loans to make payroll, which means you get laid off.
