Last night was either the second or third time I played in the RFT Music Showcase. It's kind of a pain in the neck. Most of the venues the fest uses on the Loop aren't really rock venues, both spacially and attitudinally. Each band gets only an hour, which is really like 45 minutes. They really keep everything on a tight schedule.
Still, it was pretty fun to play at the Delmar Lounge. We weren't able to have the usual projector set-up, so it was just the music on its own. I think that it held up on its own pretty well. I know we played with a bit more edginess and immediacy, which I guess is what one does when the music is the only thing.
I caught Theodore at Riddle's (another venue ill-suited for rock) and they put on their usual stellar performance. I'm pretty sure that they're my favorite band in St. Louis. Go see and hear them if you can.
