1964 or 2008?

In exercising their right to vote, students of a historically black college in Texas march 7 miles en masse from campus to the only polling place designated for their district.

Is this a story from the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960's?

No, this story is from earlier this week.

Here is a video of the march:

Also, Prairie View A & M is a fairly large univeristy. According to Wikipedia, some 6,300 undergraduates and 1,758 graduate students are enrolled there. The county seat of Hempstead (where the sole polling place is located) has a population of 4,691 according to the last census. So, considering that close to 100% of students at Prairie View are of voting age, while the census figures for Hempstead show 29.3% of its residents under the age of 18, it is very likely that there are more eligible voters living in Prairie View than in Hempstead.
