Lots of great commentary today on the Rove resignation, but I think Rick Perlstein gives it a great historical context. First this post, noting the Nixonian parallels to Rove's resignation. Then this post outlining Karl Rove's rise from a job in the Youth Division of C.R.E.E.P. (yes, that C.R.E.E.P.) , to his eventual patronage by the Bush family and Jr.'s right-hand man.
As happened during the downfall of Nixon and his cabal, movement conservatism now seeks to distance itself from Bush and his cabal by characterizing the Administration (and now Rove) as not truly "conservative." Jane Hamsher at Firedoglake outlines in this post how "amidst the tears, Rove’s 'boy genius' legacy is already being re-written by the right."
